Approximately 1,300 school leavers aiming to start college in September attended Freshers’ Day events at Brockenhurst College recently.

Fine weather on both days meant applicants could enjoy sunshine while exploring the campus and sampling the Further Education vibe.

Among the opportunities were chances to meet teachers, attend subject taster sessions and make new friends.

Meanwhile, college band The Beatlets played live covers from diverse artists, ranging from Billy Joel to Radiohead.

Each young person received a voucher for free food and went home with a complimentary goody bag containing stationery.

Representatives of New Forest National Park Authority also attended to give guidance on taking care around local livestock.

And a herd of alpacas even turned up to meet the prospective new students.

Events Executive Mike Traher said: “Both days were fantastic opportunities for applicants to grow in confidence ahead of their September start.

“Good weather, good food and our famous Brock hospitality meant people went home with a much clearer vision about the next important step on their learning journey.”
