Diver Lucy makes a big splash (or rather, not) at Scottish National Diving Championships
9 January 2017
Sixteen-year-old diver Lucy Hawkins from Dibden Purlieu took three major honours when she competed at the Scottish National Diving Championships late last year.
The Brockenhurst College student won Junior Silver on the platform, Junior Silver on the springboard, and Senior Bronze on the springboard, two places behind Rio Team GB diver Grace Reid.
The former Noadswood School pupil, who studies Sport and Exercise Science, was invited to compete as a guest at the event, which ran from December 1st to 4th.
Next, she plans to compete at the British National Diving Championships in Plymouth at the end of February.
Lucy said: “I’ve no idea about competing at the 2020 Olympics in Japan yet. Right now, I’m just enjoying myself.”
Lucy’s tutor Kirsty Buckland said: “We wish her every success for the future and will support her fully on this exciting journey.”
