Eight marine apprentices from Brockenhurst College have started new roles at Lymington-based Discovery Shipyard.

The highly rated firm also has a site at Marchwood, close to Brock’s Skills Centre where the group began their training.

Joe Graham, Robert Williams, Harvey Bailey-Edwards, Matthew Bootham, Matthew Loosemore, Shane Hartley, Edward Jones and Harry Terry, will remain at the firm for at least two years.

Discovery Shipyard specialises in building luxury yachts, mainly for the overseas market.

Managing Director John Burnie told the New Milton Advertiser and Lymington Times recently: “The yacht building business has had a long-term association with Brockenhurst College and we are therefore delighted to welcome the new intake for 2020.”

Lead Marine Tutor Matt Rolph said: “It’s great to see these young people taking their first steps in industry with one of our leading partners.”
