Former Brock Hospitality student Lucy Jones is heading to Brazil to participate in the 2015 WorldSkills competition.
The twenty-one-year-old from New Milton, who is Head Waitress at the Chewton Glen Hotel, will fly to Sao Paulo where she will compete in the Restaurant Services category.
The WorldSkills competition is the world’s biggest professional education event, drawing over 1,000 young people aged 18-25 from over 50 countries to compete in more than 40 skills.
Lucy said: “I am tremendously grateful to the college for their fabulous support and training throughout the qualifying stages, including the EuroSkills Lille competition in September 2014 and the November 2013 Skills Show.
“Since completing my three-year course at Brockenhurst, College, I have been a regular visitor to the College for additional training sessions.
“I really hope that my experiences of this competition will be of benefit to other students studying at Brockenhurst College in the future,” she added.
Cathy MacArthur, Lecturer in Food and Beverage Operations at Brockenhurst College who has been supporting Lucy with her training, said: “I know that Lucy is very proud to be representing the UK and she will be an excellent ambassador.
“We are very proud of Lucy and all that she has achieved so far and wish her the very best of luck in Brazil.”
