Tea party to celebrate ten years since Highwood Nursery relocated to Brockenhurst College
30 May 2025
Children, parents, nursery staff and senior college leaders gathered at Highwood Nursery recently for a tea party to mark ten years since the nursery moved from Highwood Road to Brock’s main campus.
In the spring sunshine, Nursery Manager Sarah Bower welcomed everyone to the event under bunting that had been made by the older children especially for the occasion.
She told guests that her daughter, now aged 30, attended Highwood Nursery in the 1990s, following its opening in 1991.
Sarah then handed over to Vice Principal, Limor Feingold, who holds senior control and responsibility for the nursery.
He gave a short speech in which he said that Highwood Nursery is a very important part of the local community, as well as a very important part of Brockenhurst College.
Limor praised Highwood’s energetic vibe, describing it as “bursting with life”, before closing by saying: “Here’s to another ten years…”
Highwood Nursery has an Ofsted rating of Good and four age-specific rooms – Bunnies, Bunnies Two, Squirrels and Owls.
The organisation employs 22 staff (including casual workers and apprentices) and is currently attended by 89 children aged between nine months and five years.
The tea party was organised by Highwood’s Deputy Childcare Manager, Claire Venables, who has worked at the nursery for over 20 years.
Sarah Bower said afterwards: “Today we marked a huge milestone for Highwood Nursery, which has become the first-choice childcare provider for so many local families.
“Yes, it’s been ten years, but we’re still growing, which is evidenced by the recent opening of our Bunnies Two room.
“My most sincere thanks go to all the nursery staff, both past and present, and the senior leaders at Brockenhurst College, who continue to support us steadfastly in delivering high quality childcare and Early Years Education.”
