Summer-fun-seekers flooded onto the sports fields at Brockenhurst College on Saturday for a family fun day packed with attractions.

More than 2,000 general public turned up to the New Forest District Council sponsored event to eat, drink, chat, browse and enjoy the sunshine.

Temperatures peaked at 23C, while a gentle breeze kept the air feeling fresh.

There was a wide range of attractions for children of all ages, including a bungee-trampoline and a row of bouncy castles.

Food and drink vendors offered diverse refreshment options, providing something for everyone.

Meanwhile, local artisans sold their products, and charities set-up-shop to explain their work and accept donations.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, which exists solely on charitable donations, even brought a helicopter simulator.

Other popular attractions included a pitch occupied by Brockenhurst Young Farmers, who brought along a vintage tractor.

Also popular was Jiggy Wrigglers – an organisation providing musical and other sensory experiences for babies and toddlers.

Live on stage, there were music performances by student soloists Emerson Poole and Beth Barnes-Waldron, as well as local singer-songwriter Carly Varley.

But it was Brock receptionist Jenaya Wilson who stole the show with her band GTSteel, performing two sets in the afternoon.

Jenaya belted out a long list of rock classics to the crowd’s obvious delight, as well as the astonishment of some of her colleagues.

Head of Marketing and Communications at Brock, Rebekah Donawa, said afterwards: “This event is a key part of our community engagement strategy, reminding people that we are a key local player and major local asset.

“Making this event a success is a team effort, and I wish to thank New Forest District Council for their sponsorship again this year – it really means a lot and makes a huge difference.

“I also wish to thank our Student Ambassadors and Uniformed Protective Services students, who were instrumental in performing meet-and-greet operations, as well as important logistical tasks.”
