Brock Business students raised £1,000 for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance recently through a series of fundraising initiatives based on business theory.

As part of their course, the students were tasked with coming up with money-making ideas, which they then successfully planned and executed.

Events included a bake sale, with generous donations from Tesco and The Bakehouse.

This followed persuasive pitches by the students, who sold the proposition as a sponsorship opportunity that had community investment and PR value.

There was also a clothing sale, with unwanted clothes donated by students and staff from across the college.

The students, who study the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business, chose Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance as their sole charity because of its impressive lifesaving record.

It was also chosen because it exists solely on donations, receiving no government support.

Business teacher Clare Partridge said: “To smash our £1,000 target exceeded all our expectations.

“Well done to each and every student for their hard work and creativity in supporting such a worthy cause.”
